Introduction to SWAN Day Kenya Video

Sophie Dowllar and the Five Centuries Human Rights Theatre Group in Nairobi, Kenya have been among the most enthusiastic SWAN Day organizers from the very beginning. The two minute clip above was the introduction to a longer piece that documented their first SWAN Day event in 2008. They managed to organize this event even though their ability to meet during the planning period was limited because their country was under martial law.

This video is a wonderful testament to the spirit of women artists in the face of adversity, and the SWAN Day celebrations in Nairobi have grown each year. In 2009 they reported that there were 700 people in attendance, and we are looking forward to hearing about their 2010 event.
