Join Us for SWAN Day 2010!

The Third International Support Women Artists Now Day will take place on Saturday, March 27, 2010 and the surrounding weeks. We invite all artists, arts supporters and other allies to join us in celebrating this new holiday by creating events that feature women artists.

Your SWAN Day event can be a performance, exhibit, reading, film screening, festival, fair, workshop, party, or any other activity that features women artists. There were over 170 events in 14 countries for SWAN Day 2009. You can see the range of events by checking the list.>>

SWAN Day is a grassroots effort that is coordinated by WomenArts through our website.  No fees or application forms are required. Just create your event and post it on the WomenArts Calendar as a SWAN Day event.

To make it easier for you to produce your event, we provide free downloadable publicity and fundraising materials. In the coming months we will share stories and advice from successful SWAN Day organizers around the world. Please visit www.WomenArts.org/swan for more information. If you have questions, please contact us>>

Martha Richards with SWAN Martha Richards
on Mount Tamalpais
December 14, 2009

Our Executive Director Martha Richards celebrated her 60th birthday by hiking up a mountain, and she took her SWAN spirit with her.

The uphill climb seemed like the perfect metaphor for working in the arts these days – tough but exhilarating!

Thanks so much to all of you who sent her birthday notes. They were deeply appreciated.

It’s Never Too Late to Donate!

If you were thinking about making a donation to WomenArts this year, there is still time!

Your gifts make it possible for us to offer all of our online services for free – our monthly funding newsletters, hundreds of pages of information in the funding section of our website, the WomenArts Network, the WomenArts Calendar, the WomenArts News Room, the Hot Pink Pen Film reviews, and SWAN Day. With your help, we are serving 1,500 artists a day from all over the world.

You can make a credit card donation right now by clicking here>>

You can also mail a check to: WomenArts, 1442A Walnut Street, Suite 67, Berkeley, CA 94709. You can read information about making stock gifts by clicking here>>

Thanks so much for your help.  We operate on a small budget and every gift makes a difference!  WomenArts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, and all gifts are fully tax-deductible.

Post Your Events on the WomenArts Calendar

Our new WomenArts Calendar is designed so that you can post your SWAN Day events or any events featuring women artists all year round. Like all of our website services, the WomenArts Calendar is free.

We have worked hard to make it easy for you to enter all the relevant information for a wide range of events – from informal gatherings to multi-day festivals. You are welcome to post both free and paid events. Audience members can search for events by date, location, art form, or type of event.

If you are new to our system, you can create an account that will let you post an artist profile on the WomenArts Network, or post events on the WomenArts Calendar. If you already have a username and password on the WomenArts Network, you can use those to log in to post an event on the WomenArts Calendar. (If you can’t remember your username and password, just contact us and we will send them along.)

We hope you will enjoy this new free service. If you have any suggestions about ways to improve the calendar or if you experience any difficulties, please contact us>>
