Ten powerful New York film groups, including leading advocates for women in film, are celebrating SWAN Day together this Saturday at a special screening of Winnie, an award-winning documentary about Winnie Madikizela Mandela by British filmmaker, Pascale Lamche.
The film explores Winnie Mandela’s contributions to the struggle to bring down Apartheid, with insights from those who were closest to her and from the enemies who sought to extinguish her radical capacity to shake things up. The film won the Directing Award: World Cinema Documentary at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.
Join NY Women in Film and Television, SAG-AFTRA, the School of Visual Arts Film Department, FF2 Media, ImageNation Cinema Foundation, Women in the Arts & Media Coalition (WAMC), African-American Women in Cinema (AAWIC), Women Make Movies (WMM), HerFlix, and the SVA Theatre at this special SWAN Day screening.
