Lost Artists Colony Features Edgy Women Artists
March 12, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
| FreeThe Art Colony of Lost Artists of Chicago will celebrate SWAN Day with a special event featuring women artists living and working in Chicago who are known for their unique and passionate styles. The event will take place on Saturday, March 12 from 5 – 9 p.m. at the Art Colony, 2630 W. Fletcher Street, Chicago, IL 60618.
There will be an exhibit of artworks by Laura Slota (visual artist) and by Nancy Bechtol (artist, Photographer/APA photojournalist, and independent filmmaker). Also, singer-songwriter-guitarist Anita Chase will perform with Kevin Lahvic, and there will be a poetry reading hosted by Vito Carli and featuring women poets from 5-7pm.
Featured artist Nancy Bechtol commented that she is very proud to be participating in SWAN Day. “Seeing what women artists are doing – the wonderful work,” she said. “On SWAN Day, the public will have a chance to see, make donations to their favorite women artists, and be inspired to seek out the work of women artists all year long. This is an event to celebrate during Women’s History Month – and continue year long.”
This event is part of the Art Colony’s Second Saturday art show series which features open studios artists who rent space at the Art Colony, art by Studio and Visiting Artists, poetry readings and art performance, and live music.
Mark Thomas, the arts supporter/owner of Art Colony of Lost Artists of Chicago, recognized long ago that the arts are part of the community and have local and international range. Through the Art Colony, he has provided many artists with a platform to perform, display and otherwise engage with audiences.
