For one more weekend, CDE presents a special Bindis and Bruises only weekend! Joining us for this weekend is spoken word artist and activist, Nikki Patin. She brings with her, Surviving the Mic, a collaborative organization of survivor artists using their trauma to bring uplift. You can learn more about Surviving the Mic and Nikki Patin at: http://www.survivingthemic.org & http://www.nikkipatin.com.
Wait there’s more! After each show, a post-show panel discussion will take place. Join the conversation about these universal issues of dating, domestic and sexual violence.
“Bindis and Bruises” brings awareness to issues of dating, domestic and dating violence. Dr. Sita, a survivor of domestic violence, becomes a psychologist to help the women in her Indian-American community to find hope and strength for an empowered future. Through theatre and dance, we hear the individual stories of survivors and uncover an unified voice. Her story is my story. You are not alone. We are not alone.
