SWAN DAY HOUSTON 2016 – Join SAG-AFTRA Houston-Austin Local & Women in Film and Television
April 9, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
| FreeSAG-AFTRA Houston-Austin Local and Women in Film and Television will honor Houston women artists with a mayoral proclamation for their contribution to our local industry on April 9th.
SWAN (Support for Women in the Arts Now) Day in Houston is now in its second year celebrating the artistry of several Texas female artists. Last year’s honorees included 2015 Blues Music Award Nominee in the best new artist category, Annika Chambers; Houston-based motion picture writer-director-producer Michelle Mower; and producer-writer and creator of the Film Program at Houston Community College, Carol Keeney Harrington.
SWAN Day is a worldwide movement that spotlights the contributions of diverse women artists where art involves a longing for cross-cultural understanding, a passion for social justice, or a sheer love of the arts with women expressing in solidarity with each other and sharing their visions with their communities through a wide range of SWAN Day events.
This year’s recipients will be announced at the event. In the meantime, we encourage you to seek out the work of women artists on SWAN Day and every day. Together we will build a world where women artists get the respect they deserve.
