Feminism Fights Military Morals (FFMM)
February 3, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Exhibition Hours: 7-10pm Friday and Saturday, February 3rd through 18th
Feminism Fights Military Morals (FFMM) is a collaborative project by self initiated artist members into the Feminist Task Force XX. Playing along with Swiss Artist Thomas Hirschhorn, “ENERGY YES! QUALITY NO!” FFMM is a space created for sharing of information and thoughts regarding feminism and militarism. All with a play on the military draft system to counter military morals with thoughts on what it means to live with feminist morals.
This project is intended to create a network of Feminist Service Members through a Self-selective service system where each individual will have their own initiative in living by feminist morals. ALL is encouraged to join the Feminist Task Force XX.
This is a quick intro to the structure of the exhibition.
The exhibition will be composed of accessible materials that is familiar to the everyday people, with the focus to create a non intimidating space that can be a place of reflection on consciousness and awareness of what individual morals we base our belief systems on.
Feminism Fights Military Morals has a three step system that plays on the military draft service.
1. Registration
2. Initiation
3. Certification
1. As a Registration process, participants will first be instructed to review the process of exhibition. There will be directions posted throughout the space with numbered stations and steps. “READ THE DRILL”
2. Initiation step, participants will be encouraged to absorb and contemplate on the various information posted and choose to participate in the next step of self recruitment. By associating themselves to the reflections of our individual and collective mindset relating to the military mindset the participants can choose to join the Feminist dialogue.
3. Final step will be to certify the participants self-recruitment and provide them with physical proof of the performative display by filling out the Feminist Service for Genuine Security Registration Certificates and getting an identification picture taken for archival purposes.
Surrounding this system of self-recruitment into the Feminist dialog, we will also have workshop stations and a lecture by Dr. Rebecca A. Adelman leading the dialog on intersections of feminist morals and military morals with Lynn Cazabon on environmental impacts of military advancements.
