Tea for Three: Lady Bird, Pat & Betty
February 4, 2017 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
“Tea for Three: Lady Bird, Pat & Betty” is a witty and intimate re-imagining of three women who suddenly found themselves celebrities — a behind-the-scenes look at Lady Bird Johnson, Pat Nixon, and Betty Ford, revealing the personal cost of what Mrs. Nixon called the “hardest unpaid job in the world.” The New York Times review: the 80-minute performance by Emmy Award-winning Elaine Bromka is all about “Good stories…subtle…even silences are filled with emotion.” “6 out of 5 stars!” (AustinOnStage.com, Austin, TX). Ms. Bromka has over thirty years’ experience in film, television, Broadway, and off-Broadway. She appeared as the mom in “Uncle Buck” with John Candy, as Stella on “Days of Our Lives,” and on “E.R.,” “The Sopranos,” and “Law and Order.”
The inspiration for “Tea for Three” came about when Bromka starred opposite Rich Little in “The Presidents,” which she performed across the country and on PBS, impersonating eight First Ladies. Bromka spent months poring over videotapes of the women, reading diaries and journals. At the end of “Tea for Three”, Bromka will hold a short Q & A, then be honored at a reception in the gallery at The Ned. Tickets are $50 each, will go on sale Jan. 6, and will be available at the Baker’s Rack, Carriage House Antique Market and Marilyn Jackson Gifts. Tickets will also be available at the door one hour prior to the performance.
