My Marlene-Staged Reading at Theaterlab
March 25, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
DATES & TIMES
March 25 8pm-9:30pm
March 26 2:30pm-4pm
at Theaterlab
The play is an immersive and confessional theatre experience in which the audience is transformed into the battle-hardened soldiers that Marlene Dietrich entertained during the closing years of World World II. The period songs, with their acidic, cynical tone, serve to highlight Marlene’s status as an erotic pioneer with her gender ambiguity. On a politically-social level it tackles the Nazi Germany oppression, modern parallels in Trump’s America and artists’ ways of fighting totalitarianism. Intimate and controversial.
Tickets for this staged reading are free with a RSP, please email us at MyMarlenePlay@gmail.com. This show is appropriate for 13 year olds and up. If you have any questions feel free to reach out via email or on this event page. See you there! We accept donations/pay as you want.
