Reel Wāhine of Hawaiʻi Premiere

March 2, 2018 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

REEL WĀHINE OF HAWAI‘I presents 6 short films about Hawaiʻi women filmmakers. The project showcases pioneering filmmakers as they recount their role, philosophy, challenges and triumphs in building the Hawaiʻi film industry. It features active filmmakers and focuses on the changing world of media and the role women play in expanding Hawaiʻi’s industry in innovative ways.

Reel Wāhine of Hawaiʻi results from an intergenerational collaboration between young women graduates of Hawaiʻi Women in Filmmaking programs and a veteran team of filmmakers, eager to share their experience and expertise. The films will preserve the untold stories of Hawaiʻi women filmmakers in their own words and in all their diversity to inspire the storytellers and leaders of tomorrow.

Filmmakers spotlighted in this season are:
Anne Misawa, Ciara Lacy, Connie Florez, Heather Giugni, Jeannette Paulson Hereniko, and Victoria Keith.

The premiere is at the 2018 Women of Wonders Film Fest. The Women of Wonders Film Fest highlights and celebrates the lives and accomplishments of women around the world, and here in Hawai’i.

Free & Open to the Public.
Donations accepted and all proceeds will go towards our Reel Camps for Girls Scholarships.
