Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble continues their 15th season dedicated to woman’s voice. Opening March 4, CDE teams with Sildance/ AcroDanza to present “Bindis and Bruises & Encuentros.”
“Bindis and Bruises” brings awareness to issues of dating, domestic and dating violence. Dr. Sita, a survivor of domestic violence, becomes a psychologist to help the women in her Indian-American community to find hope and strength for an empowered future. Through theatre and dance, we hear the individual stories of survivors and uncover an unified voice. Her story is my story. You are not alone. We are not alone.
On the same program, Silvita Diaz-Brown and Sildance/ AcroDanza present, “Encuentros.” Encuentros integrates dance, partner acrobatics, sound and text to represent the political journey of a couple. This triptych explores the stages of relationships through infatuations, imperfection and self-actualization. “Love is an art form requiring practice,” says Diaz-Brown.
