A new computer piece by Alice Shields, White Heron Dance (Sa-gi Mai), will be premiered April 17th, 2017 at 8pm at the National Opera Center in Manhattan, produced by the Association for the Promotion of New Music on a concert of computer music with new works by 7 other composers.  White Heron dance is based on a 600-year-old Japanese Shinto ritual called Sa-gi Mai (White Heron Dance), a ritual performed for the fertility of crops and getting rid of dangerous spirits.
