Little Stones weaves together the personal stories of four women artists from across the world who dedicate their lives to empowering women and survivors of gender-based violence.  Using their individual art forms of painting, dance, design, and music, these women celebrate creative, entrepreneurial, and arts-therapy based solutions to the most pressing challenges facing women globally.

Visiting Artist + Lecturer: Sohini Chakraborty – Founder/Director, Kolkata Sanved
Sohini Chakraborty is an Ashoka Fellow, Ph.D scholar, sociologist and dance activist. Sohini uses dance and movement as a therapeutic method of recovery, rehabilitation and self-expression for survivors of trafficking and violence. In this lecture/demonstration, Sohini will be joined by a former trafficking victim who is now a professional dancer and member of Kolkata Sanved’s dance therapy team. Both women will share their inspiring stories of survival, perseverance, and love of dance.

American Dance Therapy Association will offer both ADTA continuing education credits for dance therapists and NBCC (National Board of Certified Counselor) credits for counselors for the Sunday event, and is equivalent to  2.75 CE credits. Please contact the ADTA and NBCC for more information on continuing education credits. Attendees will need to attend the event in its entirety from 3:00-6:00 PM. 

This event is part of the Little Stones Artist Residency, which is a project of the nonprofit organization Driftseed. Driftseed seeks to empower women and girls through documentary film and storytelling.
